Comments about Samsonite Corp. Samsonite Silhouette 10 Hardside 29" Spinner:
A 29 inch hardside suitcase is best left for the body builder that can handle it. ;) It was heavy when it was empty, and I couldn't imagine lifting it when it was filled up. This was an error in my own judgement, and Samsonite is in no way at fault here. I expected quality all the way from Samsonite. But, the top pouch (the place where most folks stash their undergarments)sagged to the bottom of the suitcase. And would likely not contain what you placed there. (Just 2 hooks to hold it up.) My jaw seriously dropped in disappontment when I opened the suitcase. A nice zipper compartment would be better. The suitcase did have some good points. It was very roomy, and the luggage tags were very nice. But my favorite part, the built-in combination lock, was awesome! I wish all luggage had those. Add in the durabilty of a hard sided suitcase, and I don't think you would ever have to worry about your contents being spilled out in transit. Yup this is the Fort Knox of suitcses. Along with this item, I purchased the matching 22 inch (the smallest they had)carry-on. Well 22 inches (an unusually large 47 inches in total) "doesn't fly" as carry-on on many airines. I had great difficulty finding a quality, 19, 20, or 21 inch Samsonite spinner. Since I wanted a matching set, I decided to switch to another brand.Today, I went out to compare brands of softsided luggage. This outing made me realze that I was only buying Samsonite for its past reputation. There are much better brands out there that cost less too. My advice? Compare luggage in a major expensive department store to find the best brand and style for you. Then purchase it at Irv's. They have the best prices for every item I looked at. Online or in stores. [...]Yes I was a typical woman that fell in love with the style but missed the boat on practicality. Lesson learned, and a nice dent in my wallet to return this and the 22 inch carryon.
