The older the kids get, the heavier the books and certainly more school 'stuff' to carry. This is a nice alternative to the traditional backpack. Plus the seat gives my kids a chance to relax. Great for middle school kids through to my guy in college. I read about this on the irv blog, bought one for my 7th grader and my college guy loved it so much I got one for him too.
