New to Irv’s Luggage this season is a luggage collection from Kathy Van Zeeland. Now you’ve likely seen the Kathy Van Zeeland collections of handbags. Although I am not a fan of television and have never even seen the shopping network, rumor has it that KVZeeland offers her handbags on QVC. However, what I am intrigued by is the Kathy Van Zeeland luggage collection.

Definitely ladies luggage… this line of carry-on luggage, wheeled luggage, luggage sets and travel totes has been clearly designed for women travelers. According to Kathy Van Zeeland, her product is high quality, use the best materials available and is affordably priced. Good marketing hype. What I like is the elegant and stylish design (and the really affordable price doesn’t hurt).

The KVZ styles include: Heartbeat, Python, Family Jewels, Disco, Violet Multi and Brocade. Wow. I have a hard time deciding between the Violet Multi and the Python. Maybe it’s just related to my mood. The Python is a little scary, but beautiful and ultimately elegant. Note the intimate design and the realistic look and feel. It comes in the traditional color of metallic bone – which I think is the most realistic; and also fuchsia and lapis. I’ve never seen a fuchsia or lapis python, but then again, I’m from suburbia and don’t get out much. This is one piece of luggage with an unmistakable design and travelers will certainly be able to pick it out at the luggage carousel.

My other favorite design is the Violet Multi. This is an original design with multiple shades of violet, purple and some hues of blue. Imagine a bunch of butterfly on drugs. Wow.

All the Kathy Van Zeeland wheeled luggage comes with everything you’d expect from a good brand of luggage: in-line skate wheels, telescoping handles, lots of perfectly placed pockets and – unique to KVZ is the ‘I’m Yours’ luggage tag.

Susan G. Komen. The name evokes strong emotions. It is a name associated with so many terms: cancer, heartbreak, survival, cure, and hope. This is a wonderful collection of women’s luggage sets. The manufacturer is donating 15% of all sales to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure, with a minimum donation of $25,000. When traveling, these women’s luggage sets will signify support for a cure to this dreaded and unfortunately very common disease. Perhaps we will actually see a cure in our lifetime…for the sake of Susan G. Komen and all the women who have suffered through this disease and for those everywhere who have been affected by it.

Talk about a sea of black…in picking up the husband from the airport, as always I get stuck waiting for his luggage, while he gets the car.
