Checked Luggage – Will Your Luggage Make it to Your Destination?
January 15, 2010
The shift in luggage in the last few years has been to carry-on luggage. The motivation for this shift has been largely due to the fees charged by airlines for checked bags and the ever present feeling in your gut that your checked luggage, just won’t make it to your destination. The good news comes on two fronts:
Luggage manufacturers have updated the traditional carry-on bag, adding both features and new sizes for better accommodation in the overhead bin
There are some travel accessories that may help prevent your bag from getting lost.
The new wide-body carry-on bagoffers more packing capability and still meets the 45 linear inch requirements of most major airlines. A number of top luggage manufacturers including: Briggs & Riley, Victorinox and Hartmann offer this bag. Personally, I favor the Briggs & Riley 20” ,this wide body carry-on bag features a speed thru pocket, the smart-link for attaching additional bags and carries the lifetime warranty. Travel accessoriesmay help in keeping your bag from being ‘confused’ with other bags and hence, disappear. Here are a couple of suggestions: Lewis N Clark’s Large Neon Luggage Tags and Lewis N Clark ‘Pomchies’.
The airline regulations and charges are like the Chicago weather…why not keep it simple and go with the wide body and keep your luggage safely on board with you!
