Today’s
luggage, laptop cases,
briefcases, backpacks and handbags vary in quality and materials used. Most are well made and designed to meet the needs of the average 2010 consumer. However due to the hectic lifestyle of many users, manufacturer defects and baggage handlers’ not so soft touch, repairs are sometimes needed.
Irv’s Luggage is an authorized repair center for American Tourister, Andiamo, Atlantic, Boyt,
Columbia,
Delsey, Eagle Creek,
Kenneth Cole, International Traveler, Kipling, Lodis, Mercury, Pathfinder, and seventy other major brand name manufacturers. In fact
Irv’s Luggage is one of the largest repair centers in the Midwest.
Pete Silverman, head of repairs at Irv’s Luggage, commented, " the majority of repairs completed have to do with
luggage wheels and
luggage pull handles"; they do however perform a variety of other repairs on zippers, tears, pull straps, locks, hinges, clasps, ripped seams as well as repairs on tents, sleeping bags, car top carriers, baseball gloves, jackets, sports accessories and more. Alex Vetseyl, Irv’s Luggage longtime repair specialist, has been with the company for over twenty years and it is a rear occasion to come across anything that Alex cannot fix!
Per the website: “Many repairs are covered by either manufacturer's warranty or through airline damage reimbursement. Claims with
luggage manufacturers are filed on your behalf. Assistance is provided for filing airline claims. For a free estimate, email a digital picture of your bag's repairs to repairs@irvsluggage.com (Irv’s Luggage reserve the right to modify their estimate upon actual receipt of the bag and further inspection of the repair needed).”
The turnaround time for most repairs is a week and a half, however Irv’s Luggage will do rush orders, for an additional fee. It is common place for concierges from local hotels to call on behalf of their clients with luggage repair issues that need to be handled promptly. Irv’s Luggage also receives calls from Macys, Bloomingdale and other luggage retailers who do not provide their own in-house services.

In years past, consumers could bring their
luggage,
duffels,
briefcases and
handbags to a local shoe repair shop; now with today’s specialized parts and sophisticated equipment this is no longer an option. Alex Vetseyl commented that designs on
luggage change every six months and he has seen major changes occur throughout the industry over the last ten years. When repairs are needed, they need to be completed by the experts who are keeping up with the evolving industry standards. Technicians at
Irv’s Luggage are those experts!
